Tracy Tappan
First off, I am a HUGE J.R. Ward fan, and just to be mentioned in the same sentence as her and the BDB is a tremendous honor. For those of you who are BDB fans, and are considering reading my "Community Series", here are just a few reviews from BDB fans on the first book in the series, The Bloodline War. Happy Reading ~ Tracy

Tracy Tappan
If you like JR. Ward's "Blackdagger Brotherhood" series you'll love "the Bloodline War" book 1! While different in the mythology Tracy Tappen builds around her characters the fast pace, gorgeous men, & beautiful women are all there, the story starts w/Dr. toni Parthen being kidnapped after a car wreck reveals an abnormality in her blood. She is thrust into a world where vampires are real (which being an intelligent woman of science she doesn't believe @ 1st), as well as other beasties that go bump in the night. While she is trying to come to grips w/her apparent new position in life, she can't help but stand up for the women who've come before her. A bit of women's sufferegette movement is a side story in here. All the while she finds herself drawn to one brooding angry warrior who is drawn to her as well but can never be her mate unless Toni finds a way for them to be together. That is if he even wants her? Also she has to contend w/being kidnapped twice! & her warrior has decide if he can risk everything he has ever known to be w/her. A fantastic read w/great characters, villains & mythos! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
As I'm reading this I'm thinking it's right up there with my favorites: JR Ward, Sherrylyn Kenyon, etc. How exciting to have another author of that caliber to follow. She's created a hidden world within our own with characters you'll fall in love with. And the action keeps moving along. Can't wait read the next one.
I have been searching for a new series to read and I am so happy that I Found this one! The Bloodline War was a great book. Some of my favorites authors are JR Ward, Jeanine Frost and Sherilyn Kenyon. So far this series has the potential to be right up there with them. Can't wait to read book two!
Holy crap!!! I was hooked within the first chapter. This book is gritty, dark, and absolutely wonderful. I love the forbidden relationship between Jaken and Tori. The writing style of Mrs Tappan is akin to that of JR Ward and Kresley Cole. My new favorite author. I will be sitting on pins and needles waiting for the next installment.
An easy and fast read. So many of the books are compared to JR Wards BDB series and none even come close. I feel like while some of the concepts maybe the same or similar there is enough difference that I don't feel like I'm reading a watered down version of BDB.
This series reminds me of JR Ward. I didn't make it halfway through till I was checking...and purchasing...the next two books in the series. I love twists and turns in a story. Can't wait to see what's next.
Wow! Book one really gets your juices flowing! You can't help but be sucked into this exciting story! I've heard this be compared to The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by Author JR Ward. And yes I can see how that can be but at the same time no. No, this series is in a league all its own! It's definitely a must read. You can't tear your eyes away in fear of missing something and the lust is out of control HOT! These boys wow I just can't even! But the women lol oh man you gotta read this book because once you start you will instantly gobble it right up and want more! I can't believe I never found this book sooner! It's got everything to feed your inner paranormal romance goddess!! So glad I took a chance! Definitely want these in paperback for my shelf! I'm telling you Author Tracy Tappan is definitely right up there with the greats Sherrilyn Kenyon and JR Ward! But she takes it to a whole new level! So grab whatever you need to be comfortable and snacks and drinks because you gonna be in for the ultimate ride that you won't wanna get off!
I ordered this book because it was compared to the Black Dagger Brotherhood. This book is similar to the Brotherhood only in the plot line. There are a group of vampires hiding from the world and they have enemies. It's a quick and entertaining read but two completely different writing styles. I've started the second book and its grittier and more like JR Ward than the first but still completely different.
Vampires, demons, and the fey, not to mention "dragons"...this one has it all! Having read what seems like several thousand paranormal romances, most involving vampires, I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I haven't been this excited about vampires since discovering JR Ward's BDB novels. I had worried about the kidnapping angle (hello Stockholm Syndrome).I really didn't want the heroine to be feisty to start with, then become predictably complacent. But while she does end up falling in love with one of her captors, she never loses her will to fight, nor forgives what has been done to her against her will. In fact, her (and others) reaction to her kidnapping plays a major role in the storyline. I also have to say that I loved Jacken, and the way the two of them interact. Theirs was the most unique relationship between hero/ heroine that I've seen in awhile. At times they were affectionate, but also insulting, and sweet, but also sarcastic. Finally, I loved that the badass alpha-male was vulnerable and really inexperienced, leaving the heroine to be the aggressor. The author has created an exiting new world with an interesting cast of characters that should appeal to fans of JR Ward, Lara Adrian, and Rebecca Zanetti. I will definitely be reading the next installment

I was looking for a new series to read after JR wards BDB series and while some comparisons can be made it is entirely different but I loved it. I have now read the three books in the series and they only get better. Tracy Tappan has a wonderful way of bringing the characters to life. Would recommend
If you like JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood or Lara Adrian's The Midnight Breed series then this is a great series to pick up. It has the triple threat if action, adventure, and romance. I've enjoyed the first book and can't wait to start the others.
I've loved the JR Ward series Black Dagger Brotherhood and now have another author to place with it. Tappan' s style of writing keeps you on your seat & loving each character that cones a long. Well done!
This is a good read. I've read so many reviews comparing this to the BDB, sorry but it's not along that line. Let it stand on its own merits, enjoy it for the storyline it is
If you like the Blackdagger Brotherhood series you'll love this one too. Really well written and very entertaining.
It's always exciting to find a new author whose style of writing speaks to me. Anyone can have a great idea for a series and get published nowadays, but Tappan's storyline and characters bring this series to life in a way that is unique and refreshing. It has a paranormal element, with plenty of nasty mean bad guys, and some angst all thrown in together. There's a history, a present, and a future still to be told. I started with a sample and was hooked! There was no scrimping in the plot, length, or the rich history of the characters. I loved that! I'm a big J. R. Ward fan and I think that if that is your cup of tea you will not be disappointed. But, in the end, it's all about the blood, and isn't it usually? Tappan's good guys don't look like anything you have ever seen. Let's hope they can save the day, save their race and, if they are really lucky, find a girl who will bring hope and love to their desperate existence.
I could not put this book down. I am so glad that I found Tracy Tappan as an author to follow. I usually read J.R Ward or Suzanne Brockmann. But they better watch as there is a new sherriff in town in my reading word. I loved Toni's and Jacken's story. Am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I am sure it will be an all nighter just as the first book The Bloodline War was!!! You will not be disappointed if you flow with this author.
Since the first of the year, I have read well over 100 books. They ranged from short stories to over 800 pages. They covered the entire spectrum of the romance genre. They were written by debut indie authors and best selling authors like J. R. Ward and Nora Roberts. Some were exceptional and will grace my library for decades. Some I have already forgotten. I can say with no hesitation and no qualms whatsoever that The Bloodline War is the BEST book I have read this year to date. It was soooo hard to keep this review under wraps until the post date because I wanted to grab people, and tweet people and say READ this book!! Read it now, now, NOW!! I was literally doing a happy dance through most of the story.
I kept seeing this series compared to J.R. Ward's "Black Dagger Brotherhood Series" (which I LOVE), so I finally decided to give it a try. As a writer myself, I don't have a lot of time to read for enjoyment, and I don't waste my time on books that don't keep my interest, but as you can tell from my rating, this one did. I really enjoyed it! It was a different twist on the vampire storyline, and quite imaginative. The characters were great, all very distinct, and you really got a good picture of their different personalities. And the guys are HOT, HOT, HOT. I've already purchased the second book and can't wait to read it! (Slow clap Ms. Tappan.)
I have always been a big fan of the paranormal genre, especially vampires, but they have become so popular it is difficult to find one that feels new and unique. Well, Tracy Tappan has managed that. The world she created felt very real and possible. Her vampires are studs, her female characters intelligent and sassy, but they all felt possible. They had their flaws, their tempers, as well as relationship ups and downs, but they did not feel as artificial as some fantasy characters do.The book has enough sex to sizzle, but not so much it is numbing or becomes the whole book. If you are a fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon's or J.R. Ward you will enjoy this book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this, as evidenced in the less than two days it took me to devour it. It was 342 pages, but my biggest complaint is that it was too short and I want more! I was intrigued by the characters, the world and the story. I want to learn more about them all. Here is to hoping I won't need to wait too long.
